After eight days, four states and 2,500 miles, the 2014 Fireball Run will conclude with a grand finish line celebration on the Historic Independence Square Saturday, October 4, 2014. The Finish Line Festival will feature live music, family friendly activities, a car show, petting zoo, food vendors, beer garden and a grand parade welcoming the teams to Independence. The festival begins at noon with the parade beginning at 4 p.m. where Fireball teams will parade around the square, crossing the official finish line. The event is free and open to the public. The event, dubbed an “adventurally” is like the Amazing Race on wheels, with 40 teams competing to win points and raise awareness about missing children. Representing Independence, Granola Jones (formerly Hippie Chow) will be competing in a newly refurbished VW 1967 Beetle. The winning team is decided by a point system tallied up at the end of the race, not by finish line crossing order. The entire race, as well as the Finish Line Festival, will be featured in episodes broadcast online.
