Calling all Young Professionals- Join us for Biz, Bites, & Banter! This month we will be hearing from Veronica with paraMi about Networking!
Veronica is currently the Director of Youth and Community Programs for Startland. With a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, Veronica is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Veronica began her professional career in education working at Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, through this experience she became passionate about working with urban youth to inspire them to seek the many opportunities our city has to offer. Entrepreneurial by nature, Veronica is one of four founders of paraMi, a Latina-owned apparel and homegoods brand creating products and services to empower women, particularly women entrepreneurs. At home, Veronica is a single parent to two teenage boys and two dogs.
Being Latina can many times mean the demands are high but the expectations are low. The coronavirus pandemic spared no one. Like millions of other women around the world, staying home meant Latina women found themselves loaded with new responsibilities, new roles to play and the never-ending pile of dishes. Not only were we overwhelmed by all these new things, we were experiencing all of this new alone; each woman feeling isolated. paraMi in Spanish means, for me. We created an apparel and home goods brand to channel our voice and to help shape the lives we want for ourselves. Our way, our rules. paraMi is for the brave, modern woman ready to lead the life she envisions.
Are you a Young professional between the ages of 18 and 39? This is the perfect lunchtime group for you! We will meet every other month for Professional Development and Networking. We will serve lunch at these meetings so don't worry about losing your lunch hour.
