Virtual Diversity & Inclusion Workshop: Understanding Poverty in Kansas City: An Interactive Simulation
We are excited to share news about a new partnership between the Independence Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to increase awareness and discussion about diversity, equity and inclusion.
TOPIC INFORMATION:
The next Virtual Diversity & Inclusion Workshop Series for this partnership will be a presentation called "Understanding Proverty in Kansas City: An Interactive Simulation". Join the KC Chamber as we present United Way of Greater Kansas City's interactive poverty simulation to learn about the prevalence and severity of poverty in our community. You will learn about poverty in Kansas City and will work in small groups to complete a series of budget exercises. The experience requires participants to navigate difficult decisions within the constraints of scarce time and resources, and will provide empathetic understanding of families struggling in low-wage jobs to make ends meet. You'll also learn how you can support and empower vulnerable families in our communities. This will be a virtual workshop on Tuesday, December 14th, from 11:30 am-1:00pm online via Zoom. There is no charge to attend this event, however REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. A Zoom link will be sent from the KC Chamber of Commerce prior to the event.
This program is presented in partnership with the KC Chamber, Blue Springs Chamber, Independence Chamber, Liberty Chamber, Mid-American LGBT Chamber, Grandview Chamber and South Kansas City Chamber. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Presenting Sponsors are Commerce Bank, Community America Credit Union, Evergy and Hallmark.
