Veterans Day Salute!
Join the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum for a spectacular Veterans Days Salute! Many events and exhibits will take place, one of them being Special Guest Joseph L. Galloway author of We Were Soldiers Once...and Young. His detailed account of the Vietnam War while embedded with the Command Unit of the 1st Cavalry Division became a runaway New York Times best-seller and then, in 2002, film starring Mel Gibson, We Were Soldiers. In 1998 he was awarded a Bronze Star with "V" for Valor for rescuing wounded soldiers under fire at la Drang. He is the only civilian to receive a combat medal from teh U.S Army during the Vietnam War. Joseph L. Galloway's Keynote starts at 3:00 pm.
